TREATMENT OF SUBSTANCE ADDICTION AND WITHDRAWAL SYMPTOMS

  • The SIS AC waveform generator is a development on the Modulated Electric Energy Stimulators and their derivatives, patented in the USA by Dr. Saul Liss, which have been used 1000s of times by physicians in the USA and worldwide. Patents of Dr. Saul Liss>

The SIS AC waveform generator is the first waveform generating cranial electrical stimulation (CES) device that achieves comparative or greater, known CES therapeutic effects, with extremely low applied stimulation electrical voltages (1000× lower) even in the low millivolt magnitude range.

HOW IT WORKS: NEUROTRANSMITTERS

  • Neurotransmitters are a type of the body’s chemical messengers. They are the molecules used by the nervous systems of the body to transmit messages between its nerve cells (neurons), and from neurons to many different targets. Neurotransmitters can be excitatory, inhibitory and modulatory in their effects.

  • Neurotransmitters are part of the body's control systems and also influence many major body functions including breathing, heart rate, movement, emotional response, concentration, mood, feelings of pleasure and satisfaction, and pain signal transmission and perception.

Neuron Neurotransmitter Junction

  • The SIS AC waveform generator influences nerve activity by delivering electrical energy, in the form of specific signal frequencies, to the brain. The electrical energy penetrates into the brain via a targeted, amplitude ‘modulated’ waveform, which acts as a ‘carrier’ of the active signal stimulation frequency. To achieve this carrier function, the modulated waveform is specially designed to utilize to advantage the composite electrical properties of the bones of the skull, to transmit the stimulation electrical energy into the brain.

The published CES and Liss Modulated Electric Energy Stimulator research shows strong, beneficial alteration of the levels of neurotransmitters: serotonin—related to mood, sexual function, appetite, sleep, memory, learning and some social behavior; melatonin—related to sleep-wake cycles; endorphins and GABA—related to perception and modulation of pain signals; and Cortisol and DHEA—adrenal stress and steroid hormones, as measured in the cerebral spinal fluid in the brain and spinal cord, and in the bloodstream.

HOW IT WORKS: BRAINWAVE AUGMENTATION

  • Also capable of brainwave augmentation, the SIS AC waveform generator can be programmed to deliver stimulation frequencies that are in the Beta brainwave band.

Beta brainwaves are associated with the normal, waking state of consciousness of focused activity, decision-making and general alertness.

SUPPORTING RESERARCH & HEALTH REGULATIONS

  • Modulated electric energy stimulation—under the category of cranial electrical stimulation (CES)—is backed in the USA by 30+ peer-reviewed published studies, around 20 patents, and by the USA Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and Health Canada marketing clearance for the treatment of anxiety, depression, and insomnia disorders.

Applications are drug free and no negative effects or major contraindications have been reported from the use of amplitude modulated frequency CES.

DEVICE DEVELOPMENT

  • Neurosurgeon, C. Norman Shealy used the first implantable neuromodulation electrotherapy device for the treatment of chronic pain in 1967. Later on, he found that the same effects could be achieved with non-invasive electrical stimulation.

  • The original Modulated Electric Energy Stimulator technology was gradually developed and patented beginning in the 1980s by scientist and medical engineer, Dr Saul Liss (-2006) together with Shealy.

  • "Modulated Electric Energy Stimulators are devices which . . . have a beneficial clinical effect on the human in reducing pain, and symptoms of depression, anxiety, and insomnia . . . to reduce spasticity, enhance alertness and increase attention span in the normal and increase the cognitive performance of neuronally deficient children." [Liss 1999]

  • The technology was developed from "analyzing the physics characteristics of the body and match[ing] the dynamic electrical impedance of the body with a stimulation pattern which the body could then convert into an internal signal that it could use constructively to help the body help itself." [Liss 1999]

  • Up until now, most currently available, alternating current (AC) and direct current (DC) cranial electrical stimulation devices have used relatively high stimulation voltages applied to the brain—typically 20–30 volts. Most of this delivered electrical energy is unnecessary to achieve strong therapeutic effects; Dr Liss knew this and orignally developed much lower voltage devices; he only later added the higher voltages in order to convince people that they were having an immediate effect as then the stimulation could be felt instantly.

  • From our independent biomedical engineering R&D, in parallel with the extensive experiences from a dedicated electromedicine clinical practice and research lab, we have developed on the Liss and other existing technologies, to advance the field and produce the world’s first low voltage transcranial stimulator.

  • The SIS AC waveform generator maintains or enhances the established therapeutic effects of CES, while very dramatically reducing overall user exposure to electrical energy.

LOW VOLTAGE CRANIAL ELECTRICAL STIMULATION

  • Enhancing brain neuromodulation. Gentle beneficial effects on levels of neurotransmitters: serotonin—related to mood, sexual function, appetite, sleep, memory, learning and some social behavior; melatonin—related to sleep-wake cycles; cortisol and DHEA—adrenal stress and steroid hormones.

  • Central nervous system pain modulation. Beneficial effects on levels of neurotransmitters: endorphins and GABA—related to the the body’s natural pain relief mechanisms, and mediation and perception of pain.

  • Brainwave augmentation. Stimulation frequencies in the beta brainwave band of the normal waking state of focused activity, decision-making and general alertness.

  • Low voltage cranial electrotherapy. Far lower (1000×) millivolt magnitude stimulation achieves comparative or greater therapeutic effects than high magnitude voltage devices (typically: 20–30 volts). Safer, wider application, less risks of side effects, no unnecessary optic nerve stimulation or dizziness. Easier and more comfortable application—no wet sponge pads, tingling or burning under pads; less chance of skin irritation.

  • Technological development of the Liss Cranial Modulated Electric Energy Stimulator USA patents. Auto-regulating stimulation intensity maintains therapeutic effect at real world, changing electrical circuit resistances when attached to the body.

  • Australian patented & international application pending device & technology.
