CHEST INFECTION TREATMENT

Infection:
Lungs (pneumonia), or bronchial tubes (bronchitis).
Type:
Bacterial or viral.
Incidence:
Can develop from the common cold, especially in the elderly or immunocompromised. Other noninfectious irritants such as tobacco smoke can lead to pneumonia and bronchitis.
Transmission:
Mainly coughing and sneezing.
Symptoms & effects:
Common symptoms are coughing with or without mucus, difficulty breathing, temperature, pain, whole body aches.
Drug treatment:
Antibiotics, oral or intravenous.
Drug efficacy:
Some resistance to antibiotics such as ceftriaxone documented globally.
Side effects:
Multiple possible, mild to severe.
